We kindly invite you to the avuba General Meeting 2023 as well as to join us to the reception after the meeting!

Date: Monday, 27 November 2023
Time: 6 pm until approximately 8 pm (We are going to start at 6pm sharp, please arrive accordingly.)
Place: Kollegienhaus (Petersplatz 1), room 116
(a hybrid passive participation via Zoom is also possible)

Voting rights
Only avuba members present will have the right to vote at the avuba General Meeting. If you are going to participate passively via Zoom, please remember that you won’t be able to vote and/or to ask questions.

In order to know whether a person who attends physically will participate with voting rights, avuba will have to do an identity check before one can enter the lecture hall 116. Guests will be asked to take a seat in the back of the room. Since the voting right check will take some time, please arrive 10 minutes before 6.00 pm. avuba will bring a list with the names of all avuba members. Please bring a valid identity card.

Documents
As there won’t be time for reading all the documents at the meeting itself, you can prepare by reading these files beforehand either in English or in German:

• Minutes of the General Meeting held on 30 November 2022 (English link,German link) – we will vote on whether you approve of the minutes or not
• Annual report 2022 (English link, German link) – we will vote on whether you approve of the content of the document or not
• Report of the auditors (English link, German link) – whether you approve of the content of the document or not

Resolutions – according to the avuba bylaws (English link, German link) are passed with a simple majority of members present at the General Meeting voting via the raising of hands. This means that the majority of members present at the voting must agree.

avuba co-presidents 2024: Election and application
The avuba co-presidents will be elected for a one-year term by the participating avuba members at the General Meeting. The avuba co-presidents are working with a 20% workload and are remunerated in accordance with the Doc 2 tariff of the University of Basel. If someone already has a 100% workload and still wishes to become a co-president, the avuba salary can be paid out as a fee. The co-presidium is part of the avuba executive board and ideally consists of one doctoral researcher and one postdoc from different faculties. Good German language skills are required because most university documents are written in German and most meetings take place in German. If you would to like stand for election as an avuba co-president, please write a short motivation e-mail to Amancaya

The current avuba co-president Sven Kraus, doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Humanities, is going to step down by the end of 2023 whereas Antonia Vogler, doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Humanities, will stand for another year.

All candidates will get a chance to present themselves at the general assembly before the vote. The two people with the majority of votes will be elected as the co-presidents 2024.

Additional avuba board member 2024: Election and application
Anyone who would like to get actively involved with avuba can run for election as an additional member of the avuba board on 27 November 2023. The avuba members present at the General Meeting will elect not only the co-presidents but any additional avuba board members for 2024. If you are interested, please contact Amancaya
