lunch talk: ✨ PhD Power-Up: Creating a Healthy Work-Life Balance for Optimal Performance ✨

Ph.D. candidates, do you constantly wrestle with the demands and pressures of your academic journey? Achieving harmony between your work-life balance and motivation while managing immense stress is no small feat! Undertaking a Ph.D. can be compared to a thrilling rollercoaster journey filled with unexpected ups and downs, exhilarating peaks, and daunting valleys, all while juggling research, personal life, and professional development. Fierce rivalry, ambitious expectations, apprehension, and a lack of proper rest often mark this odyssey.

Would you describe yourself as a perfectionist?

Chance is that you constantly feel "pressure to perform." You are not alone on that as 69% of students reported experiencing that feeling, too (de Bot, 2019).

How does the "pressure to perform" influence your self-confidence?
Whether immersed in your Ph.D. or gearing up to leave your mark in your chosen field, embracing the principles of salutogenesis* and a sense of coherence, together with polyvagal-inspired techniques, can equip you to navigate the ever-evolving terrain of academia and beyond confidently. Dr. Sanae Tabnaoui, the founder of The Flourishing Incubator, will introduce practical tools to help you develop these concepts, transforming your Ph.D. experience and enabling you to establish coherent Ph.D. journeys, fostering a balanced work-life equation, peak performance, and building resilience in the face of life's obstacles.

"The most significant revelation of any generation is that a person can transform their life by shifting their attitude." (William James, American psychologist, and philosopher)

"Adversity reveals a person to themselves." (Albert Einstein)

✨ What generates health? ✨
That was the persistent question that drove Antonovsky's research. So he coined the word: "salutogenesis—of the origins (genesis) of health (Saluto)" (Antonovsky, 1979).
For Antonovsky, "the origins of health are to be found in the sense of coherence."

In this workshop, you will delve into the practical applications of energy management tactics, mindfulness practices, and polyvagal-informed interventions designed to help you harness your inner resources and bolster resilience. By fostering a sense of coherence and tapping into the power of the vagus nerve, you can unveil new avenues for growth, equilibrium, and well-being in your scholarly pursuits.

Sanae Tabnaoui, PhD, CPPC from "Consultant/Trainer in Positive Leadership & Transformation" will guide you how to retain your vitality!
