Funding of academic and non-academic projects by avuba

According to the resolution of General Meeting of 27.11.2023, avuba will support projects twice a year with a total of 5,000 francs, i.e. 10,000 francs per year. The following guidelines appyl until further notice.

Purpose

Projects are to encourage community building and the expansion of the network of assistants.

Criteria

  • At least 8 people are to benefit from the funding, of whom at least 50% should be assistants at the University of Basel.
  • Applications, including reasons and a provisional project budget, must be sent via e-mail to avuba@clutterunibas.ch. The application must cover the following points: Who? What? When? Where? For whom?
  • A final report of half an A4 page is to be submitted together with receipts. The report must include how many assistants from which areas have participated.

Additional criteria

  • avuba can contribute a maximum of 500 francs to internal faculty events. 1,000 francs may be allocated to cross-faculty events.
  • Each faculty receives a minimum of 500 francs per year.
  • The remaining funds will be distributed according to the proportion of avuba members per faculty. The distribution key will be updated once a year. For 2024, the formula is: Phil-Nat 38%, Medicine 35%, Phil-Hist 15%, Law 4%, Psychology and Economics 3% each, Theology 2%.
  • If a faculty does not spend its money it will be distributed to the other faculties.
  • If not enough projects eligible for support are received each semester, avuba can use the remaining funds to organise and finance central cross-faculty networking events, e.g. a guided tour of the city followed by an apéro.

Administration

  • All applications submitted by May 31 and November 30 will be reviewed by the avuba board. After that, the funds for all accepted projects are allocated which means payed out in June or December respectively.
  • As of the end of November, applications can only be submitted for projects that are planned within the next 7 months, i.e. up to and including the end of June next year.
  • As of the end of May, funding can only be requested for projects that are to take place up to and including the end of December of the same year.
  • Funds for projects approved by the avuba board must be spent within the next 12 months, otherwise the entitlements expire.
  • Each project will be listed on the avuba website.
  • Furniture/movables cannot be financed.
