Dear avuba members

We would like to inform you about some amendments and clarifications of the agenda for the upcoming avuba General Meeting. The parts that were added or changed are written in bold:

Agenda

1. Welcome
2. Election of vote counters and approval of the agenda
3. Activity report of the co-presidium 2021 including information regarding the organization of avuba and the reasons for the decision not to sign the "Petition Academia”
4. Outlook 2022 including a discussion of max. 60 minutes of the agenda items 3 and 4
5. Approval of the Minutes of the General Meeting held on 27 November 2020 as well as the Minutes of the extraordinary General Meeting held on 20 January 2021
6. Approval of the annual financial statement 2020 and the report of the auditors
7. Discharge resolution of the executive board, the co-presidium, the general manager and the auditors
8. Approval of the projection for 2021 (consultative) and the budget for 2022
9. Increase of the current membership fee from CHF 15 to CHF 20 per semester in order to increase personnel resources
10. Amendments of the bylaws (various adjustments)
11. Election of the additional executive board members, the co-presidium, and the auditors 2022

The agenda 11 item which includes the "Election of the board" is adjusted to "Election of additional board members" because the ex-officio members of the board are elected by the assistants of each of the seven faculties and not by the avuba members present at the General Meeting.

Due to the amendments we expect the General Meeting to last at least until 8.30 pm. The start of the virtual meeting stays the same (2 December 2021, 6.00 pm). Everyone is welcome to stay as long as he/she can.

If you haven’t already registered for avuba’s General Meeting 2021 and would like to participate, please write an email to Patricia by 26 November 2021 8.00 am. All participants of the General Meeting will receive the documents in preparation for the meeting by the end of this week including the zoom link.

We would also like to inform you that Tizian Troxler, avuba co-president 2021, will not be running for co-president 2022. As he was able to raise third-party funds, he will be concentrating fully on completing his habilitation over the next few months. Therefore, there are two vacancies for the co-presidency.

The presidents are elected for one year and can then be re-elected. The position of avuba co-president is remunerated at a 20% workload, Doc2 tariff for a year. The presidium is part of the avuba board and ideally comprises one doctoral researcher and one postdoctoral researcher from different faculties. If possible, both genders should be represented. As most university documents are in German, a good knowledge of the German language is a prerequisite.

The deadline for applications for the position of avuba co-president is 26 November 2021 8.00 am. If you are interested, please contact Patricia by e-mail.

Finally, we would like to inform you that Patricia Eiche, the avuba General Manager since 2013, has decided that it is now time for a change. She has submitted her notice to the avuba board. Her contract officially ends at the end of February 2022. The current avuba board has decided that the new avuba board should meet in December 2021 in order to discuss and advertise the position of avuba’s General Manager as soon as possible.
