The “Reform of employment and working conditions for doctoral researchers and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Basel” (Mittelbaureform) aims to address long-standing problems faced by the academic mid-level staff. It was launched in autumn 2024.

Due to a change in the order of the committees who get to see the draft of the measures that was compiled in May together with avuba, the project’s timeline has slightly changed. Therefore, it won’t be possible to talk about specific measures yet.

Nevertheless, Patricia Zweifel, project manager of the "Reform of employment and working conditions for doctoral researchers and postdoctoral researchers,” will:

• Update us on the developments since the last lunchtime meeting on 20 March 2025 including the comparison of employment conditions at other Swiss universities
• Inform about the next steps and the adjusted timeline of the project
• Answer questions from the audience

Additionally, Tomás Sousa, avuba co-president, will give an overview about measures avuba proposed.
