Background information

The “Reform of Employment and Working Conditions for Doctoral Researchers and Postdoctoral Researchers at the University of Basel” (Mittelbaureform) aims to address long-standing challenges faced by academic mid-level staff. It was launched in autumn 2024. In the first phase of the project, which lasted until May 2025, potential cost-neutral measures and their implementation were identified. The resulting proposals were then organized thematically in an overview document called Auslegeordnung. During the summer and early autumn, this list was (and/or is still being) discussed in various university committees. A broader discussion with interest groups and faculties is scheduled to take place during the fall semester 2025/2026.

Meeting agenda

Patricia Zweifel, project manager of the “Reform Doc/Postdoc,” will present the list of possible measures and outline the options for participating in the consultation process, either within avuba or individually.
